Features
The Amron International Model 8330iC-01 is designed to support three-divers and is a portable, self-contained high/low pressure air control, depth monitoring (pneumo), and communication system for surface supplied commercial diving operations.
It is a central control point for the supply of breathing air to the divers. This Amron system monitors the divers' depth and provides superior hardwire diver communications for three commercial divers and topside personnel.
Model 8330iC-01 is housed in a durable, pressure-fused fiberglass case that provides a convenient, compact, rugged and professional system.
This system is specifically designed with three independent diver channels that are compliant with the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) guidelines - IMCA D023 DESIGN for Surface Oriented Air Systems.
The system comes standard with the field proven 2830A-04 AMCOM III Series Communicator and is a full-featured hard-wired three-diver communicator with independent microphone and earphone volume controls for the tender and each diver. The communicator can operate in both 4-wire (full duplex), or 2-wire modes. The communicator has a built-in internal charger and can be operated from either a 90-264 VAC, internal 12 VDC battery, or an external 12 VDC power source.
High Pressure
High air pressure inputs are color coded (Red, Blue, and Green) for ease of identification.
Each input has a 0-6000 PSIG gauge and shut off valve to monitor and switch from one high pressure air source to the other.
The added safety feature of check valves provides protection against back flow of air from a full tank into an empty tank when switching high pressure air supply sources.
High pressure air is reduced to low pressure via a pressure reducing regulator with a pre-regulator in-line 50 micron filter.
A relief valve (factory set at 350 PSIG) prevents over pressurization.
Note: HP hoses are not included. If HP hoses are required, please add 3 ea. High Pressure Hose Whips with Yoke to your order.
Low Pressure
Divers air hose connections are O2 fittings, controlled by quarter turn ball valves permitting unrestricted flow. Note: O2 fittings can be converted to JIC upon request.
The LP inputs with safety check valves have a #6 JIC fitting and is protected from over pressurization by an over pressure relief valve set at 350 PSI.
Pneumo (Depth Monitoring)
The heart of the pneumo system are 3 ea. 6 in. gauges with 0.25% % of full scale accuracy and dual scale readings of 0-250 feet of seawater (FSW) and 0-76 meters of seawater (MSW). The gauge dials have a glare free face, mirror band with clearly marked increments for fast accurate readings with 1 ft. divisions.
Regulating valve, KEL-F Seat: (3) with O2 fitting chrome plated brass.
Communication
The 2830A-04 Three-Diver Hardwire Communicator is a full-featured communicator with independent microphone and earphone volume controls for the tender and each diver.
The communicator has a built-in internal charger and can be operated using 90-264 VAC, an internal 12 VDC battery, or an external 12 VDC power source.
Can be operated in both 2-Wire and/or Full Duplex (4-Wire) communication modes. Modes can also be used simultaneously.
The communicator comes standard with Microphone Auto Detection that identifies the type of microphone each diver is using and automatically adjusts for optimum performance. This communicator can operate with any combination for both dynamic and pre-amplified microphones.
Ultra-low noise, wide band width amplifier circuit combined with noise suppression circuitry produces crystal clear speech. The amplifier’s Automatic Gain Control (AGC) circuit prevents audio signal distortion and enhances speaker protection and audio quality.
The audio amplifier card deploys a state-of-the-art, Class-D digital audio power amplifier. It has very low power dissipation, generates minimal heat, and enhances battery life.
EMI is minimized through spread-spectrum and de-phase control techniques providing for optimum integration with diving systems.
The built-in internal charger allows for simultaneous charging and operation of the unit while protecting the rechargeable battery from being overcharged. Automatically supplies power to the audio amplifier when AC power is disconnected to allow for continued operation.
The noise canceling, hand-held, push-to-talk microphone improves the quality of communication by eliminating topside noise to the divers.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The 2823-603 can operate over an input voltage range from 90-264 VAC. It operates over an input frequency range from 47-440 Hz.
-
Yes, an inspection report is included with each unit. The pneumo gauges come with a calibration certificate and sticker
-
Yes, you will need a cable that allows you to connect the communicator to your computer. You will also need audio recording software installed on your computer. On the back of the communicator there is a single RCA Phono jack (color-coded black) that provides a transformer isolated of both the diver and tender communications. It is designed to drive the standard line-level inputs of audio or video recorders with input impedances as low as 600 Ohms.
-
The gauges supplied with this unit are dual scale in both feet and meters of seawater.
-
If the unit is plugged into a live outlet and turning on the switch does not cause the AC POWER LED to light up, then the fuse(s) are probably blown. Unplug the unit from the outlet, remove the fuses and check continuity with a multimeter. Replace any fuse that does not show continuity.
-
Although it may be possible, we strongly discourage such operation. The added workload would cause overheating and stress to the amplifier card. Prolonged use in this condition will eventually cause permanent damage and failure to the amplifier card.
-
Amron communicators and Outland Technology’s video systems have a RCA Phono Jack. To connect the two systems together, you will need an audio cable with RCA Plugs on each end.
-
When operating your Amron Diver Communicator on AC, it is critical to use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or isolation transformer for tender and diver safety. Surges and spikes are common on AC lines found on ships, generated locally, or at the end of long extension cable runs and can exceed 1kVolt. Such surges and spikes can cause the fuse to blow on the amplifier card assembly. The power supply is designed so that such a failure will be isolated and will not cause a safety issue to the tender or divers. It is strongly advised that your Amron Diver Communicator be operated on an AC circuit with a high quality surge arrester or an AC isolation transformer.
-
Yes, however, the charger will charge the battery at a slower rate as some of the charger power is being used to operate the communicator.
-
To determine whether the problem is with the battery or charging circuitry, you will need to verify if the battery is being charged.
-
Unplug your communicator and turn on the POWER switch.
Measure the voltage across the yellow PUSH-TO-TALK (PTT) jack and write down this value for future reference. It should be greater than 9 Volts.
Plug the communicator into an AC source and verify that the AC POWER LED on the front panel turns on.
Re-measure the voltage across the PTT jack and note it down for future reference. It should be higher than the previous measurement.
If the AC POWER LED does not light up when the communicator is plugged in, then check fuse located on the amplifier card.
Allow the communicator to charge overnight.
Unplug the communicator and re-measure the voltage across the PTT jack.
If it is the same or less than the voltage you measured previously, then the charger is broken and the communicator needs to be sent in for repairs
If the voltage higher than previous measurement but less than 13.5 Volts, then the battery is bad and needs to be replaced.
If it is greater than 13.5 Volts but it still appears that the battery is not holding a charge, contact Amron for additional support.
